Starting with the basics. Let’s talk about the audience funnel…
Imagine the audience funnel as an inverted triangle, where the widest part represents the cold audience, the middle section represents the warm audience, and the tip represents the hot audience.
You might also come across another way to describe this funnel, such as:
Top of Funnel (TOF): Cold Audience
Middle of Funnel (MOF): Warm Audience
Bottom of Funnel (BOF): Hot Audience
Let’s break it down!
Cold audiences (TOF): The starting point
Cold audiences consist of people who don’t yet know your brand but are likely familiar with similar products. Or, the other way around, they haven’t tried the product yet but are starting to discover your brand.
In other words, these are people who “might be interested in your product/brand but haven’t engaged with it yet.”
At this stage, segmentation is typically based on interests. But we’ll talk about this in the next article.
Once someone shows interest, they move into the next stage of the funnel: the warm audience.
Warm audiences (MOF): From curiosity to consideration
Warm audiences have already had some form of contact with your brand. This could range from liking a post to sending a message or encountering informative content about your brand and now having you on their radar.
These people are starting to consider purchasing with your brand. They’ve shown some level of interest and are aware of what you offer, making them a “potential” audience.
This group originated in the cold audience but moved into the warm phase thanks to your marketing strategy.
Now that you have a warm audience, we can go on with the next one: Hot audience.
How do people move to the “Hot Audience” (BOF)?
The answer is simple: by making a purchase.
As soon as someone buys your product, they become part of your hot audience.
Before becoming buyers, these people would have interacted with your brand multiple times and considered making a purchase, waiting for the right moment to “buy” your product.
The hot audience includes “first-time buyers” and customers who make “repeat purchases”.
Building Loyalty with your Hot audience.
Once you have an active audience in the BOF phase, it’s essential to implement strategies to keep them hooked with your brand.
How? Make them feel special.
Offer them exclusive deals or discounts.
Introduce loyalty programs, such as points systems or frequent customer cards (depending on your business industry).
Develop a loyalty strategy to ensure this audience remains active.
By recognizing where each customer stands in the funnel, you can craft personalized strategies that drive engagement, loyalty, and growth. Start optimizing your funnel today!
